Stephen Charles Clark of England is a decorated motor sports racer with a career spanning 30 years. From an early age, Stephen Clark has been known for his passion, both on and off the track. In his racing career, he has amassed impressive pal-mares, and continues to be active as a vehicle tester and mentor. Mr. Clark lives near Kidder minster, England, where he is helping to shape the future of professional racing.
Early Racing Career
England’s Stephen Charles Clark got his start in racing in 1991. His first forays on the track were behind the wheel of 100cc racing Karts. He continued to race Karts as a hobby for many years. From 1999 to 2002, Mr. Clark participated in selected Super 1 National Kart Championships.
The Super 1 Series has produced champions who have gone onto race in professional motor sports, including Formula One. Stephen was no exception; in 2004, he got the opportunity to race for legendary racer Barry Pom-fret on the Formula Ford Zetec team. In nine races, Stephen won eight and went onto win the Avon Club championship.
Racing in the First Decade of the 21st Century
In the same year he won the Avon Club championship, Stephen Charles Clark was given the opportunity to join Porsche Racing. He competed in the final round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain (GB) for Team RPM, a racing team owned and managed by Robin Mortimer.
The next year, 2005, Stephen raced the full Porsche Carrera Cup GB alongside teammate Tim Harvey, who is an ex-British Touring Car champion. Driving a 996-generation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, Stephen achieved considerable success and professional experience on the track.
2007 saw new challenges for Stephen Charles Clark in his racing history. He participated in selected rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup and the British GT Championship, this time behind the wheel of a 997-generation 991 GT3 Cup car. It was in the British GT races that he linked up with teammate Paul O’Neill. With Team RPM and Paul, Stephen racked up even more top-5 finishes, including a 3rd place finish in their second race together and a win at Rocking-ham in 2008.
Stephen Clark: Racing to the Present
From 2009 to 2011, UK racer Stephen Charles Clark participated in a variety of races in a BMW M3 CSL. During this time, he achieved several notable wins and set the fastest-lap track records. In 2011, he piloted a race car in the Silver-stone 24 Hour Race, finishing 9th overall out of a grid of 72 vehicles.
After putting his racing career on hold for a few years, Stephen returned in 2018, providing his expertise in testing cars for the Porsche Carrera Cup, this time with IN2 Racing. He tested in both the 911 and the Porsche Cayman.
Today, Stephen can be found supporting the racing efforts of his son Charles Clark, who races with IN2 Racing aboard a Porsche Boxster. Charles is set to participate in the Porsche Club Championship. With his fathers’ impressive track record and skill supporting him, Charles is sure to be a success on and off the track.
